About the Company and Role

The company is a growing medtech company developing a product within compliance for pharmaceutical systems. The business is moving into a scale-up phase, with an established product and continued growth.

On the engineering side, however, the environment still has many characteristics of an early-stage startup. The team is small, decisions are made quickly, and engineers are expected to take significant ownership and contribute beyond a narrowly defined technical role.

The company is looking for an experienced Clojure Software Engineer with a Founder Engineer mindset, someone who combines strong technical skills with genuine curiosity about the product, its users, and the problems being solved.

Assignment description

You will work as a senior software engineer in a small, cross-functional engineering team where technology, product, and domain knowledge go hand in hand. While the company is entering a scale-up phase, the engineering environment still operates with a startup mindset—high ownership, quick decisions, and a short path from idea to implementation.

The role spans both backend and frontend development, architectural decisions, and close collaboration with product and domain experts. You are expected to take ownership, contribute beyond a narrowly defined engineering role, and actively help shape both the product and the technical platform.

The product operates within compliance for pharmaceutical systems, making quality, reliability, and understanding the real-world user needs particularly important.

Requirements

• Extensive professional experience with Clojure

• Experience working broadly across the stack with a full-stack mindset

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to contribute to architectural decisions

• A Founder Engineer mindset – comfortable taking ownership, driving initiatives, and contributing beyond a narrowly defined technical role

• Strong product mindset and genuine interest in the product, its users, and the problems being solved

• Comfortable working in a fast-moving engineering environment where decisions and priorities can change quickly

• High degree of independence and ability to act without detailed instructions

• Pragmatic approach to problem-solving, with the ability to reason from first principles

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Nice to have

• Previous experience as a Founder Engineer, founding team member, or engineer in an early-stage startup

• Experience with Datomic, preferably Datomic on AWS

• Experience with HTMX and Alpine.js

• Experience with AWS

• Previous experience in health-tech, medtech, pharmaceutical systems, or other regulated environments

• Experience working in remote-first and asynchronous teams
